HMRI Breaks Ground for New Biomedical Research Building
Congratulations to Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) on breaking ground for their new, state-of-the-art biomedical research building. I was surprised to learn that HMRI is not just another wing of Huntington Hospital, but a NON-profit organization, separate from the hospital, which raises its own funds through donations and grants. This building is a truly remarkable feat, and took many years of dedication to achieve.
HMRI is Pasadena’s only dedicated medical research institute, and has more than six decades of achievement under its belt. HMRI has contributed to developments in the treatment of epilepsy, hepatitis C, migraines, and early diagnostics for Alzheimers , among other breakthroughs. What an incredible organization and neighbor, and we are proud to have them in Pasadena!
The groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday was jubilant and full of excitement. Dr Marie Csete MD, PhD, President and Chief Scientist, thanked the donors and supporters who have helped bring this dream to life. Guests enjoyed looking at the images of the beautiful, new building that will replace the eyesore that resides there now. The program ended on a very high note, as we actually got to watch the demolition of the old building right before our eyes!
Each of us will likely know someone whose life is saved by biomedical research. Please take a moment to learn how you can help continue the advancements that may save your life or a loved one’s.
